Hello and welcome to Mountain Cloud Farm. The farm was started in 2012 by Breigh and Darren, an epic couple who dedicated themselves to building the soil health of the farm and growing really good food. In 2022 they were ready for a new adventure and the vegetable business is now owned and run by Rose Robitaille and Emma Dotta.
Hi, it’s Emma!
My passion for regenerative agriculture began when I was 18 and I discovered deep-mulch gardening and the idea of how, by working with nature, we can create more abundance than if we left everything alone. This possibility of health and humans being an impact of good was so inspiring that I began farming and found out I loved it! It turns out that farming is not only a way to get paid to move around outside all day while snacking on cherry tomatoes, it is also a way for me to express my dream of seeing natural ecosystems flourish and in turn create flourishing for all involved, including humans.
I have farmed in Vacaville, California on a small, diversified farm growing everything from peaches, sheep, to zucchini, done some growing in northern Vermont, and now find myself here in north Idaho sharing my love by growing vegetables.
Some things I enjoy are going barefoot, eating fresh food (especially homemade ice cream), sitting in the sun, singing, listening to podcasts, skiing, and lakes. Oh, and cold plunges; I love those, too.
Hi, it’s Rose!
I first started farming in 2009. Since that time I have farmed in Idaho, Vermont and also abroad (Italy, Guatemala, Costa Rica, India, and Japan). I have a Masters Degree in Sustainable Food Systems, a Permaculture Design Certification, and have worked with the UN as a researcher specializing in indigenous food systems, biodiversity and climate resilience. It is so deeply important to me to nourish our local community and continue to build food security in North Idaho. Honored and grateful to be on this land, cultivating that which has been tended long before me.
I also love hand crafts, fiber arts, ancestral skills, making fire, singing, dancing, forest walking, creek floating, and basking in the awe of simply existing. Here we are, so let’s eat well and be joyful!
